Progress on Family Violence and Elder Abuse Prevention

Elder abuse was formally recognised as a form of family violence by the Royal Commission into Family Violence. In response to the Commission’s report, the Victorian government set up a Statewide Family Violence Steering Committee to plan and guide action on the report’s recommendations. Seniors Rights Victoria Manager, Jenny Blakey, is a member of the committee, helping ensure that responding to elder abuse continues to be part of government action on family violence.  The government’s 10-year action plan, Ending Family Violence: Victoria’s Plan for Change, came out in December.  Read more in the Seniors Rights February Newsletter
